Social media is here to stay and is only going to grow. Integrate social media into your email marketing by posting emails to your Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn. Invite email readers to become members of your social networks and give them the opportunity to share your email with their social networks. As we wrap up the year, we looked back through the 2011 Get Delivered archives to bring you the best deliverability tips from 2011.

  1. Get Permission - Forever and always our number one tip – only send email to recipients who have opted in.
  2. Stay on Schedule - If your recipients forget they opted in, they are more likely to mark your email as spam.
  3. Keep the Subject Relevant - Mismatched content and subject lines are a common spam trigger.
  4. Get Whitelisted - To prevent your emails from landing in the junk box, ask your subscribers to whitelist you or add you to their safe sender list.
  5. Use the Spam Check Tool - This tool look at your email like a spam filter would and will tell you what may be red flags.
